Story:

Creagan was an 11-month-old West Highland White Terrier when he was given to us on 13th May 2003. Creagan very quickly became friends with our two other dogs: Rolo, a Border Collie (around 4 months old at the time), and Lily, a female Westie (around 2 years old at the time), and they all spent a lot of time playing together in the garden, but particularly Creagan and Rolo - despite looking like a Laurel and Hardy combination!

Lily's next season came around and it was decided that it would be lovely to have a litter of pups from Creagan and Lily, and so along came Barnaby, MacDuff, Ben, Snowdrop and Cuillin on 28th September 2003. An oversight prior to the neutering operations also led to the birth of little Jasmine, from Snowdrop, on 21st June 2004. All the male dogs were neutered after the birth of Jasmine, to prevent further breeding. We kept all the puppies and have a total of 9 dogs, except of course that Creagan was taken, leaving Rolo and Creagan's little family behind.

We believe that Creagan was lifted from somewhere around our home in Mid-Clyth (4 miles north of Lybster, Caithness), because he was never known to wander off and he was more than happy here. We had all become particularly attached to him, and had helped him to overcome a lot of the psychological problems that he had arrived here with, such as snapping, excessive growling, pulling at the fur on his chest and chasing his tail through anxiety. One characteristic that never left him, however, was his unusual habit of standing on his back legs and pawing the air with his front legs, which he displayed whenever he was excited, frustrated or meeting someone new. This could help to distinguish Creagan if he were to be found somewhere. He is certainly a character, and it has been noticeable that Rolo the sheepdog has since been lonely without his special little friend around.

Other features of Creagan are a banana-shaped tail, front paws which turn out slightly, small neat ears, and the fact that his hair parts in the middle all along his back. He has also been known to "mouth" when nervous or anxious, which involves him repeatedly opening and closing his mouth whilst sitting still, and not making any noise.

Creagan is terribly missed, and I would like to appeal for anyone to report any sightings or information to us on the number given above. Alternatively, information can be reported to Wick Police Station (reference Dr. Jones, Mid Clyth) on +44 (0)1955 603551, or anonymously by email: midclyth@supanet.com
